Slice notation settings
To edit a slice’s notation settings, open the slice settings and click the “Notation” tab.
Most of these settings can only be edited by customers in a paid plan.
Here’s what the screen looks like:
“Display instrument names in notation”
See the separate help page about this.
“Show title in notation”
This checkbox, off by default, lets you opt into displaying a title.
“Display pitch names above each note?”
This lets you opt into our player’s “Show pitch names” feature, described in detail here.
By default, “Show pitch names” is disabled — meaning the player’s settings menu will not display that option. You can change this to one of the following:
- On by default, can be toggled in player settings
- Off by default, can be toggled in player settings
“Hide notation”
This checkbox, off by default, will hide the notation when your slice is viewed by somebody other than you. They will only see the slice’s recording(s), without any way of accessing the corresponding notation.
It also means synth playback will not be available.
Why on earth is this useful? It’s because some of our customers want to publish their video as soon as possible — before they’ve had a chance to create and sync notation. The “Hide notation” feature lets you publish the slice and work on its notation without students seeing the work-in-progress notation. Then, once the notation is done, you can uncheck the checkbox, hence making the notation visible to students.
