I'm a bass guitarist looking for an existing band, trios, duets, or anyone that wants to play gigs on a regular basis. I am interested in just about any kind of music; Blues, Classic Rock, Rock, Country, or Americana would be perfect though. However, I will entertain almost all reasonable offers. The important part for me is getting out in front of people to play. I am a full-time musician; I play bass and practice bass, that's it, I have no other distractions. So if you are serious about getting out and gigging full time, I'm your guy for bass guitar. I can play anytime (except Wednesday), anywhere (within reason).
I am also very interested in any one-off opportunities; providing bass for recordings, songwriting collaboration projects, etc.... I have electric and acoustic bass guitars along with bass rigs for most small to large venues. I am set up to record bass tracks for your scratch tracks or masters at my place if you find getting people all in one place to complete a recording is difficult.
My music career started back in 1963 in Niagara Falls, NY when I performed my first paying gig. I worked playing bass during those 15 years in the Falls extensively around Western and Central New York and Southern Ontario. My playing did slow in St Louis and Dallas because of family and trying to maintain a day job. The family is all grown and I retired a few years back, so music is the only thing I do today.
Currently, I am supplying bass for the group "Wild Rabbit Salad", a grassroots Americana group playing numerous originals along with popular covers for gigs all around the Houston area, and the Dave Becker Band, playing a blend of Folk, Swing, and Blues melodies that create a unique and enjoyable Tex-Americana feel. I also played the last three years around North Houston with "The Can't Hardly Playboys & One Girl Band", a predominantly Country/Texas Country Outlaw band that also does a small amount of Classic Rock. On evenings during the week, you can find me providing bass for anyone asking as part of duets for a couple of local guitar players/singers at Open Mics at Puffabelly's, Swanny's, and Green Oaks Tavern. I also cover the occasional festival or charity event. I am always available to anyone looking for a bass for recording or original song development.
I enjoy playing Blues, Country, Funk, Classic Rock, Jazz, R&B, Southern Rock, Contemporary Christian, and just about anything else with a good bass line. I'll work with a full band or back an acoustic player either with an electric bass or acoustic bass. BTW, I play real bass, laying down the bottom with a solid beat and try to stay hooked up with the drummer. I am not a bass soloist and have no interest in a lead guitar player trapped in a bass player's body.
I am available for practice days, evenings, and weekends with adequate notice.
So whether it's a full-time gig working for a club with a band or you just need a bass player for a one-time performance, I'm your guy; let's talk.
