Bio

Dr. Pittman began teaching group and private piano lessons in 1983 when he was a piano performance major at UNC-Chapel Hill. After a year of intensive training in piano pedagogy, he was chosen from among his college peers to teach those same students a 2nd year. Dr. Pittman knew then that he was destined to share his passion and training with others.

That same year, Dr. Pittman opened his own independent music teaching business, the Pittman Music Studio. Over the 35 years of being in business he has taught students of all ages and pianistic levels.

As those years passed by and the demand for piano lessons grew in Durham, Dr. Pittman decided to expand his passion for teaching music. The result is the newly formed Piano Academy of North Carolina, LLC (PANC). To accommodate the demand, additional teachers had to be hired.

Dr. Pittman and the faculty of PANC recognize the potential in each one of our students. With our customizable approach, we've seen students’ self-esteem and skill-set consistently rise. We love what we do and it makes us happy to be able to share our passion with others. Our results are a testament that music plays a vital role in being human.
