Bio

Long-time Atlanta, GA guitarist, Micah Cadwell has spent the majority of his career playing behind many of the southeast's premier jazz musicians. For his first record as a bandleader, he wanted to tackle more contemporary songs that are often overlooked by the traditional jazz community. Frontier Trio Vols 1 & 2 were recorded in 2019 and feature songs by Peter Gabriel, Radiohead, The Beatles, The Ronettes, The Smiths, as well as his original compositions. Jez Graham plays piano and key bass and Michael Dana rounds out the trio on drums. The album was recorded over 2 Saturdays in July with Damon Moon at Standard Electric Recorders in Decatur, GA.

Micah is also the lead guitarist and music director for the Atlanta-based singer/songwriter, Papa Jack Couch. In 2019, he produced and played guitar on Jack’s latest record, Witness Tree; he also played lead guitar on Jack’s first record, Meriwether. Papa Jack and The Standard Electric Band can found playing all around the southeast.

In addition to performance, Micah also maintains an active teaching schedule. He released his first book, Melodic Triads, in June and his second book, Deep Dive Into ii-V, in July of 2020. His teaching focuses mainly on jazz, western swing, folk, country, theory, and songwriting.
