He was a disciple of the legendary Maestro and multi-instrumentalist José Menezes (1921-2014) with whom he studied arrangement and worked on the project “Zé Menezes – Autoral” as a Cavaquinist. The project resulted in the recording of three CDs and a CD-Rom containing the maestro's digitized collection with scores, biography, videos and photos, profiling almost all of his work. Digitization of Brazilian Popular Music" conceived by PETROBRAS and produced by cultural producer Luiz Rocha, they are: "REGIONAL DE CHORO", "GAFIEIRA CARIOCA" and "NOVA BOSSA" where he recorded alongside renowned musicians such as Cristovão Bastos, Carlos Malta, Nicolas Krassick, Marcelo Gonçalves, Beto Cazes, Daniela Spilman, Hamilton de Holanda, Yamandú Costa, Maestro Proveta, Paulo Sérgio Santos, Marco Pereira, Jorge Helder, Marcelo Caldi, Marcio Bahia among others.
He was part of the CRADLE OF SAMBA DE SÃO MATEUS. Heir of rural bass drums, of associations such as Vai-Vai and Nenê de Vila Matilde, and of slackers such as Adoniran Barbosa, Originating from meetings in backyards such as Tia Cida's or the Buteco do Timaia, in the East Zone of São Paulo, the album Berço do samba de São Mateus is the record of one of these strongholds. There are about forty musicians gathered to sing the daily life of the neighborhood and the people, in union with the lyricism and poetics typical of Brazilian popular music. Produced by Quinteto em Branco e Preto, with guest appearances by Almir Guineto and Beth Carvalho. Jovem Leandro Matos debuted on the album as a composer in addition to playing as an instrumentalist and interpreter.
He accompanied several Samba names such as Monarco da Portela, Mauro Diniz, Ivone Lara, Sombrinha, Arlindo Cruz, Diogo Nogueira, Nei Lopes, Wilson Moreira, Beth Carvalho, Moacyr Luz, Luiz Carlos da Vila, Tia Surica, Benito di Paula, Marquinho Diniz , Trio Calafrio among others.
