Bio

佐藤恭子(サックス奏者・作編曲家)

兵庫県姫路市出身。横浜国立大学在学中にアルトサックスとジャズを始め、横国大モダンジャズ研究会と早稲田大学ハイソサエティーオーケストラで活動。バークリー音大とロータリー財団から奨学金を得て、ボストンのバークリー音楽大学に留学、ジャズ作曲科を専攻、演奏家、作編曲家としてアワード受賞。卒業後はボストンとニューヨークで活動ののち、東京に拠点を移す。
日本では鈴木良雄(b)グループや宮之上貴昭(g)との共演からキャリアをスタート、演奏家として自己のグループや、作編曲家として「佐藤恭子リトルオーケストラ」を主宰、アルバム「Momentary」「Everlasting」ダブルリリース、スタンダードソングプロジェクトアルバム「Love Songs」など、海外の作編曲家たちと「Brilliant Corners」プロジェクト、クラブDJとのコラボレーション「Nation Of Multiverse」（彼女の作曲によりマンデイ満ちるが歌う「Butterfly」は英国のDJジャイルス・ピーターソンが取り上げるなど話題となった）、企業CM等の映像音楽の作編曲や（楽天生命、JFE製鉄、住友不動産、映画「ペコロスに会いにいく」、辻仁成映像作品、小学館、他）テレビ・ドラマ録音では主にゲイリー芦屋氏、佐藤和郎氏をはじめとした劇伴作家による音楽の録音・演奏（日テレ、TBS、NHK他）、海外の音楽家たちとの交流、「江戸川ジュニアビッグバンドアカデミー」音楽監督や、日本の大学のビッグビッグバンドやジャズオーケストラに楽曲委嘱及びワークショップを行うなど、教育家として後進の育成など、活動は多岐にわたる。
2023年はデンマークのパワートリオ「Kemaca Kinetics」と日本およびヨーロッパツアーで演奏後、デンマークのアーティストレジデンスに一ヶ月滞在し、ヨーロッパ10カ国以上からジャズを志す子供たが集まるオープンサマーキャンプに講師として参加したり、スペインのピアニスト、モイセス・サンチェス氏とスペイン大使館でコンサートを行うなど、ヨーロッパのミュージシャンとの交流も多い。

Kyoko Satoh (saxophonist, composer/arranger)

Born in Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture. She began playing alto saxophone and jazz while attending YNU (Yokohama National University), and is active in the YNU Modern Jazz Society and the Waseda University High Society Orchestra. She received scholarships from Berklee College of Music and the Rotary Foundation to study at Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she majored in jazz composition and is an award-winning performer and composer/arranger. After graduating, she worked in Boston and New York before moving to Tokyo.
In Japan, she began her career performing with Yoshio Suzuki (b) group and Yoshiaki Miyanoue (g), and has led her own group as a performer and “Kyoko Satoh and her Little Orchestra'' as a composer and arrange, producing the double released album “Momentary” “Everlasting". Later she made a sextet album (standard song project)“Love song". She organized ”Brilliant Corners'' project with overseas composers and arrangers, also she did some collaborations with club DJs like “Nation Of Multiverse”(Her composition "butterfly, which the singer Michiru Monday sang was played Giles Peterson, a famous British DJ"), composition and arrangement of video music for corporate commercials (Rakuten Insurance, JFE Steel, Sumitomo Real Estate, Jinsei Tsuji Video Works, Movie Pecoros Ni Ai Ni Yuku”, Shogakukan...etc). Her activities are wide-ranging, including recording session for drama and TV and CM music (NTV, TBS, NHK...etc), interacting with overseas musicians, and training the next generation as a music director and educator, for example, at the Edogawa Junior Big Band Academy. She has also commissioned music for university big bands and jazz orchestras and given clinics to them. .
In 2023, she toured both Japan and Europe with the Danish power trio "Kemaca Kinetics," and then spend a month at an artist residence in Denmark, where she participated as an instructor at an open summer camp where children from more than 10 European countries gather to pursue jazz. She also has many interactions with European musicians, such as holding a concert at the Spanish Embassy with Spanish pianist Moises Sánchez.
