Bio
Wilson Pierre, was born, on February 19th, 1985, in Haiti. His love for music began at the tender age of six, where he’d often disappear from his parents. Only to be found next to the guitarist at church. It then his passion for music was discovered. Despite this, his grandmother encouraged him to study mechanics at a technical high school. At fourteen, he joined a music class and met Abbé Mutillien, a priest, who taught him his very first note on the guitar. A class starting with eighty students, ended with just three students, Wilson being among them. Three years later, Wilson graduated high school with a technical degree in mechanics.
Continuing in music, Wilson made his first stage appearance at a church in in 2001. He heard that they were looking for a guitarist while passing by. Knowing only one scale, the staff still enjoyed his playing and decided to keep him permanently. In 2002, he began taking private lessons with local guitarists. One of which was Jean-Baptiste Jean Israël, a very well-known and great Haitian guitarist. It was Jean- Baptiste who introduced him to the world of jazz and helped him understand music better. Growing musically, Wilson had a great passion for classical music. Inspired by Pat Metheny's work of incorporating elements of jazz topped with a classical touch, Wilson taught himself classical music. Along the way, a classical guitarist named "Lele, would share classical guitar music sheets from his collection, introducing him to the works of Agustin Barrios Mangore.
Wilson obtained his associates degree from Miami-Dade College but didn’t stop there. He left Miami and sought out to fulfill his dream of attending the most prestigious music school that exists, Berklee College of Music! There Wilson recently obtained his bachelor’s in jazz performance and composition, moving closer and closer to the ultimate goal at hand. After many years in musical studies and gracing stages all around the world, Wilson has remained humble and consistently seeking knowledge from the greats that came before him. In becoming a part of the Wilson MusicPerfection family, Wilson will not only just teach you how to play a song. He’ll teach you how to discover your own voice.
Wilson remained a musician of many abilities, also as a vocalist and gifted conductor of several church choirs. As he grew in experience, he later integrated the world of pop music. Joining his first band, 'Fasil' playing Haiti’s most popular rhythm, Kompa. Fasil contributed to his popularity as he began performing in many different countries. A few years later, Wilson moved to Miami, playing in many Kompa bands overtime such as Suav Music, Disip, 5Etwal, legendary bands as Nu Look and most recently Zenglen. Aside from the Kompa world, Wilson is a performer of all occasions and styles. And enjoys playing in college ensembles and jazz festivals.
Three important things in Wilsons’s life are God, music, and his love for others. Wilson works tirelessly in making his dreams a reality, spreading positivity all around him through music. Following the works and studies of his many music idols, he is continuously cultivating and innovating himself as a musician.
