Frank Vignola, born December 30th, 1965, is one of the most extraordinary guitarists performing before the public today. His stunning virtuosity has made him the guitarist of choice for many of the world's top musicians, including Ringo Starr, Madonna, Donald Fagen, John Lewis, Wynton Marsalis, Lionel Hampton, the Boston Pops, the New York Pops, and guitar legend Les Paul, who named Vignola to his “Five Most Admired Guitarists List” for the Wall Street Journal.
Frank Vignola is among the most popular and sought-after guitarists on the music scene worldwide. He is also an accomplished tenor banjoist, having recorded and performed with Vince Giordano's Nighthawks from 1986-1990. His dynamic genre-spanning music has brought him to 21 countries on three continents, performing in some of the world's most illustrious venues, including the Sydney Opera House in Australia, Carnegie Hall in New York City, The Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, New York's Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Blue Note, Birdland, and the world's oldest indoor concert hall, Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza, Italy. Vignola has also given lectures, masterclasses, and demonstrations at many of the country’s leading universities and colleges. From 1995 to 1997, Vignola implemented the jazz guitar curriculum for the Arizona State University Guitar program. He also founded the Big Jersey Guitar Camps in 2017. BJGC now coordinates 4 to 6 jazz guitar camps annually for all levels.
Often featured on National Public Radio, Frank Vignola has also become a familiar figure on Public Television, featured previously on three popular shows, including the heavily programmed Tommy Emmanuel and Friends. His own PBS special, "Four Generations of Guitar," produced by Peter Berkow, premiered in the 2015 season as part of the 13-episode series "Music Gone Public," which featured special guests Vinny Raniolo, Bucky Pizzarelli, Joe Craven, and Tommy Emmanuel.
Vignola has recorded over 30 CDs as a leader and has been a guest on hundreds of recordings. Vignola has written over 18 educational music books, recorded the critically acclaimed "Vignola Plays Gershwin" CD, and recorded 2 DVDs for Mel Bay Publications. He has also produced 50+ full-length video teaching courses for TrueFire.com for all levels. His online Jazz Studio continues to thrive, reaching thousands of students worldwide.
Currently, Vignola performs every Wednesday night at the world-renowned New York City jazz club Birdland, where he hosts "Frank Vignola's Guitar Night," featuring different guests each week. He tours on occasion performing at jazz festivals and clubs throughout the US and Europe and select duo performances with violin star Tessa Lark.
