Bio
Originally from the High Desert in Southern California, Remy grew up in West Coast hip-hop and underground hip-hop culture. Remy developed an early interest in music through his grandmother, a church pianist/organist, but got his start with trumpet which he played during middle school. During that time his interest shifted to hip-hop and electronic production, largely sample based. His older brother was a saxophonist for over a decare, which, alongside the sampling of hip-hop, sparked an interest in jazz. It wasn't until age 26 when Remy started to finally buckle down and study jazz piano, eventually landing a full time gig play with the neo-soul/r&b singer Sierra Sellers in Pittsburgh, PA. His teachers were Rick Gallagher, and Ron Bickel of Duquesne University (professor of acclaimed pianist Brett Williams), and he received online mentorship and lessons for a brief period with Kiefer, and Nick Semrad.
