Bio

A very eclectic musical journey packed of instrumental music but not exclusively. Luis is a guitarist/composer experienced in a widely array of styles such as Jazz, Latin music, classical, world music and even indie-ish singer songwriter.

In his 25 year career as a guitarist - session musician, Luis has performed as a sideman with many panamanian and international artists such as Rubén Blades, Erika Ender, Luis Fonsi, Ismael Miranda, Conjunto Chaney among many others. He has recorded with El Chombo, Karla Lamboglia, Romulo Castro to mention a few.

As a composer, Luis David navigates in a vastly array of musical genres such as Latin music, jazz, gypsy jazz, folk music, rock, funk and classical. In 2019 he released his first solo album entitled “PanaManouche” wich is a fusion between gypsy jazz and Panamanian folk music. In the middle of a worldwide pandemic, the year 2021 proved to be one of the most important point in his career so far due to two great achievements: the first one was that the HIA short film “Two Trees”, in wich Luis co-wrote the film score along side with Carlos Quirós, was nominated as best animated short in Cannes Festival; and the second one was he was awarded with first prize in Chamber Music Category, with his work for saxophone quartet entitled “Suite Caribeña” in the Roque Cordero National Contest.
