Bio
As a kid, I watched a performance by Steve Lukather with Toto and knew that was what I wanted to do. Little did I know or ever imagine that I would have the patience and interest for teaching the guitar.
After high school I began formal Classical guitar training with concert performers/teachers Javier Calderon and Phillip Hii.
From there I continued my “street” work and added more band experiences running the gamut from Rock to Country music.
I have come to love the challenge of teaching and watching students grow in ability and musicianship. Former students have gone on to become songwriters and have studied music locally and even as far away as Berklee College of Music in Boston, Mass.
Solo Classical Guitar and Lead Guitar performances in a variety of settings for the past 42 years:
-Acting and daily music shows on a Western movie set.
-Austin Rock band in the ‘80s
-Country/Variety bands from the ‘80s to current time
-17+years of teaching guitar at UUMC Arts Center including current student load, privately.
- I’ve played in nearly empty halls to opening shows in front of 20,000 people. I’ve been grateful for all the opportunities I have experienced and feel lucky to be able to be a lifelong learner of the guitar.
