Minor Swing: bass breaks
I’ve taught in the Manouche/Gypsy jazz style of bass playing in a lot of different settings, from private lessons, to group classes, to clinics at festivals. One of the most common questions that comes up is "What's something cool to play on the break on Minor Swing?”. There are a lot of different answers to that question, and my choice depends on a lot of different factors, so I thought it might be useful to give some ideas as a starting point. This course starts with an overview ad discussion of what was played on 4 Django Reinhardt recordings, then moves on to ideas based on various categories. My hope is that by the end of this course, you’ll have not only some cool things to play on the break on Minor Swing, but also ideas that you can apply to your soloing more generally.
