Hello, and welcome to Kenneth Chia's Guide to beginner flute! This is a comprehensive course featuring 231 slices, each a stepping stone to a firm foundation in beginner Classical flute performance.
As a beginner flutist, by the end of this course you will be able to:
- Learn the proper way to set up your flute and produce a good tone.
- Learn the secret to holding the flute without strain to your fingers
- Learn the proper way to sit and stand with the flute
- Simple breathing exercises to help the quickness and deepness of your breaths.
- Play all notes from low D up to high A-flat. (there's a fingering chart in Files area for notes outside this range)
- Confidently play in 2/4, 3/4, 4/4, 6/8, and 3/8 time signatures
- Play with accurate rhythms, aided by Kodaly syllables
- Handle key signatures up to 4 sharps and 4 flats
- and most of all, have FUN with the success of learning the art of playing the flute with a veteran teacher with over 25 years experience teaching to all levels!
This beginner flute course is also excellent for Piccolo as well!
Mr. Kenneth Chia holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Flute Performance from Carnegie Mellon University ('98) under Julius Baker, and a Master's Degree in Flute Performance from Indiana University - Bloomington ('00) under Thomas Robertello. A veteran flute studio teacher and performer from New York City, Mr. Chia is now teaching in face-to-face and online lessons from the island paradise of Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia.
